Albumen print, hand colored. Title: B 69 MATSUSHIMA, INLAND SEA (THREE VIEW IN JAPAN) PART I. View of a bridge over a river. Two travelers on the bridge. Part of the road has been hewn out of the rock (right). Artist: Kusakabe Kimbei (1841-1943). Photograph probably from mid 1880s. Mat and frame. Inner outline of mat: 7 7/8 x 10 3/8 inches (20.1 x 26.5cm) (the actual photo is slightly larger, as it continues underneath mat). Frame: 18 1/4 x 20 1/4 in. (46.3 x 51.4 cm). Good condition. Hinged at upper edge to mat (can be undone). Kusakabe Kimbei (1841-1943) was active in the 1880s through 1900. He was an assistant to Felix Beato until 1863.
