Albumen print, hand colored. Title: A 278 HONMURA STREET, YOKOHAMA. View of a street with little shops in Yokohama. At the end of the street the stone steps to a shinto shrine. Artist: Kusakabe Kimbei (1841-1943). Photograph probably from mid 1880s. Mat and frame. Inner outline of mat: 7 7/8 x 10 5/8 inches (20.1 x 27 cm) (the actual photo is slightly larger, as it continues underneath mat). Frame: 18 1/4 x 20 1/4 in. (46.3 x 51.4 cm). Creases at right side. Hinged at upper edge to matboard (can be undone). Kusakabe Kimbei (1841-1943) was active in the 1880s through 1900. He was an assistant to Felix Beato until 1863.
