Small shrine with the sculpture of Fudo Myoo, standing on a rock before a flaming mandala in the shape of a phoenix. Finely carved wood with fine gold decoration. In the right hand the rope, in the left a now missing sword. Mandala made of thin metal painted red with traces of gold. On the doors left and right are painted the images of Seitaka doji and Kongara doji. Japan, early 19th century.
Height 6 in. (15.6 cm).
Sword and ornament on the center of the base missing. Tiny paint flakes at right door painting. Case: some dents and old lacquer chips. Roof repaired with pegs, otherwise good condition.
