Small shrine with the exquisite figure of an unidentified bodhisattva, perhaps Daizuigu (Mahapratisara), in six armed appearance holding mostly missing attributes. He wears elaborate accessories around the chest and on the head. He sits on an elevation on top of a rocky base, backed by a double halo. Wood decorated in colors and gold. Japan, Edo period, 19th century.
Height case 10 3/8 in. (26.8 cm).
Case: lacquer on edges chipping off (water damage), few dents, good condition. Sculpture: one arm missing, most attributes missing, few pieces in jewelry missing, some color chipped along the seams of the blocks, short crack in lacquer on upper lip. Good and stable condition.
