A green eyed cat, dressed in a striped kimono holds out a giant sake cup and is being served by a white mouse in female attire. The background sprinkled with gold flakes. The shoulder and the high foot are decorated in stylized flower designs. The everted rim decorated with cherry blossoms. Unknown kiln/region. Japan, late Meiji or Taisho period. Height 11 inches (28 cm). Restoration at rim, hole drilled in bottom (formerly mounted as lamp). Otherwise excellent condition. |
