Hanging scroll with painting in ink, gold and color pigments on six sheets of paper of Kannon Nyoirin, sitting on a lotus base on top of a 6-tiered base. The 6armed Kannon sits in position of royal ease, his head resting on his main right arms. In his other right hands he holds the wish-granting jewels(nyoi hoju) and three rosaries. His main left hand rests on his knee, the others hold a rinbo and a lotus bud. He wears a crown containing the image of the Buddha and jewelry around his neck. Behind him a double flaming halo. Japan, Muromachi period.
Painted area: 45 x 20 inches (114.4 x 50.9 cm). Total length: 82.6 inches (210 cm)
Several missing areas and old, restored cracks. Stable condition.
