Renaissance French Limoges Enamel Portrait of Queen by Pierre Raymond Signed PR
This French enamel plaque on copper is signed PR. It is attributed to Pierre Raymond, possibly in the style of his work. Pierre Raymond is 16th century, this piece might be from that time period. The actual copper plaque measures 3 ½ x 4 ¾ inches. The frame measures 7 ¾ x 9 ¼ inches.
It came from an auction, that was selling items from estate of the Consulate of Monaco, Fritz Ziegler.
It depicts a miniature portrait of Royalty, possibly a Queen, with her fine jewels on. The red and blue enamel is translucent, with silver foil in the back , giving it light. Outside the oval border, it is black and white with gold border.
The frame is an unique wood, with decoration applied along the border, on a gold gilt edge. The enamel portrait is on faded pink velvet
There is a chip on the enamel on the upper right. Hairline cracks. Two screws on the upper center top edge.
