This is an original Antique Chinese Silk Textile Altar Frontal Panel, made from red silk, with satin stitch and couching stitch with silk and metallic gold threads. It has ribbon borders of pink and green. It has random silver metal domed disks to reflect the candle light. This altar hanging depicts eight Taoist immortals, each holding a specific item. It has a central figure of a facing Fu Dog or Foo Dog with green glass eyes, surrounded by four smaller Fu dogs and butterflies. It is backed with a cotton printed fabric. Circa 1900 – 1920, this Chinese textile is in good condition, some light darkening along the top.
It measures 36 inches across, x 34 inches long.
