Rare Piel Freres Art Nouveau Silver, Gold and Glass Buckle Peacock
Eye of Feather
This is silver, hand cut, engraved buckle, set with a glass cabochon, and enamel. The silver has been tested as a low grade silver, it has a gold border, around the outer edge, that has been tested as a low grade gold, the glass and enamel eye of a peacock, has been attributed to Piel Freres, that worked in France from 1855 – 1925 they won at an exhibition for a similar style buckle, with exact enamel and glass eye.
This buckle measures 4 ¼ inches long x 1 7/8 the inches wide. In good original condition, showing no repairs. The top bit now looking like a crooked heart has been bent. The enamel looks in good condition, so does the blue glass. The peacock eye is set with a copper rivet that shows on the back. Both the silver and glass showing wear from use, light scratching.
