Extremely Rare Chinese Warring States Gu Qin.
Carved with dragons throughout and with traces of white and red paint . The condition is solid and stable with signs of heavy use. After being told it is this or that stylistically a sample of wood from the bottom was sent for carbon dating. The results put the cutting of the wood to 2296 BP (Before Present 1950)so 2296+ 66 = 362 BC safe date of 296 BC-362BC , that would put this at mid Warring States period. This is one of the earliest Guqin in the world and one of the only ones out side of Chinese Museums. There has been no restoration or replaced wood and the entire piece was created then carved with carving overlapping the seams. The size is 48" long 10" wide at the widest and 3.25" thick not counting the bridge. Please note there is a picture of the carbon date results. I hope to add more pictures soon.
