| Well carved lightweight shield from the Korowai-tribe (also known as 'Kolufo' upstream the Beckingriver in Irian jaya (papua new Guinea.) These shields were mainly used as a danceshield during the Sago(caterpillar) festivals and only if necessary used as a defenceshield. The tassels from human or animal hair that were attached to the shield with a tree-resin have dried out and fallen of at one time and are missing. On the back of the shield are some indistinct charcoal drawings (see pictures) The shield with handle is made out of one piece of wood. | ||
