Nicoya (Costa Rica) Tri-Pod
An excellent Nicoya tripod plate from Costa Rica, Ca. 1000 – 1350 AD.

This exceptional Papagayo Polychrome example is 7-1/2” in diameter, 5-1/8” high and stands on a trio of superbly detailed trophy heads. The faces are unusually expressive and contain rattles. The rim is decorated with three depictions of the Plumed Serpent with anthropomorphized features. Brilliant colors, including the rare blue, strong dendrites, masterful execution. Perfect.
