| A large slender wheel-turned and burnished pottery spindle-shaped flask. This simple and elegant yet complicated shape is undecorated except for the attachment of a loop handle and a moulded relief collar around the neck. The surface is subtly marked with long vertical burnish marks. Flasks of this shape are not common on the market. Cyprus, Late Bronze Age, 1600-1050 BC Base and part of lower body restored (darker red in photos), repaired from several large pieces. Size: 29.7 x 6.5 cms. Provenance: Ex. private collection, Surrey, UK. Inherited by the previous owner and originally purchased in London, possibly at Astarte Gallery, Mayfair.
