| A large and decorative pottery architectural antefix moulded with the head of a snarling lion framed by a heavy mane. This type of antefix or acroterion was used as decoration along the roof-line of a building, usually to conceal the guttering or a join in the tiled roof. Greek, probably from a settlement in Asia Minor, 4th or 3rd Century BC Several small areas of loss as seen in the photographs, most of the attachment protrusion at the back has been lost. Size: 21.8 x 18.1 x 19.5 cms Acquired in the US trade. | ||
