| A large thin pottery bowl with a rounded open spout and a single handle; both the inside and outside surfaces of the vessel are extensively covered with red painted linear patterns although these are largely obscured by surface accretions. Cyprus, Middle Bronze Age, 1900 - 1650 BC Repaired from multiple pieces with areas of wear and minor loss as shown in the images. Professional cleaning and restoration would reveal further decoration. Two small holes have been drilled on one side below the spout. Size: 30.3 x 10 cms Ex. collection: Jorgen Jacobsen, Bornholm, Denmark. Acquired while on UN duty with the Danish peace-keeping forces on Cyprus (Dancon X/XI) between October 1968 and October 1969. This item is part of a large collection of Cypriot antiquities acquired by Mr Jacobsen from antiques shops in Cyprus during his one-year stay on the island. | ||
