| A polished grey flint axe head of typical squat lentoid form with a finely honed curved cutting edge. The axe is beautifully balanced and has a very tactile surface. Northern Europe, probably British, Neolithic, c. 3500-2000 BC Various shallow surface chips as seen in the photographs Size: 11.7 x 6.4 cms Ex. private collection, Chester, UK. Acquired early 20th Century. There is a trace of a black ink find-spot inscription although frustratingly this has been all but worn away. | ||
