Xipangu Japanese antiques - porcelain and earthenware
All Items : Antiques : Decorative Art : Ceramics : German : Porcelain : Pre 1900 item #1148548 (stock #2837)
Two German porcelain figures from the late 19th century (1870-90), showing a man and a woman in Japanese dress - or at least what Europeans imagined Japanese dress to look like. Each of them is standing on a bat (one of the Chinese symbols for luck) and carrying two large baskets with the help of a yoke on their shoulders.

They are both marked "KPM", but the mark is apocryphal.

Height 35cm (14"), excellent condition without repairs, cracks or chips,
