This is a bowl with lid made from Satsuma earthenware in the late 19th century (1880-1900, mid-Meiji period). It is decorated with overglaze enamels, depicting playing children ("karako").

Diameter 11.5 cm (4.5"), height 8 cm (3"), no marks, excellent state without chips, cracks or repairs.

It is marked on the reverse "Dai Nippon Taizan sei" in Japanese kanji characters (overglaze red).

It shows two Japanese ladies with their children before a background of giant flowers.

The mark on the underside of both cup and saucer says "Yoshi" in Japanese kanji characters (gold on black).

The cup has a diameter of 6.5 cm (2.5"), the saucer 13 cm (5"); perfect state.

This is a Japanese Satsuma vase, most probably produced in Kyoto and dating to the early Meiji period (1870-90).

The decoration shows two groups of two people (woman and man, two men) with a background of trees and rocks.

No marks; diameter 17 cm (7"), height 28 cm (11"), perfect state.
