It is decorated in takamaki-e and hiramaki-e techniques, showing a floral decoration with flowers, vines and leaves.

Japanese Imari vase produced in the famous Koransha studio (which was founded by the Fukagawa family in the second half of the 19th century). It is decorated in underglaze blue as well as overglaze red, orange and gold, showing floral decoration.

It is marked on the underside with the Koransha trademark (an orchid) in red.

This is a Japanese Imari plate from around 1900 (Meiji period), produced by Koransha, the famous porcelain studio founded by the Fukagawa family.

It shows a central reserve (in underglaze blue) with a man riding a giant fish in a stormy sea as well eight segments with floral and abstract decorations in underglaze blue as well as overglaze red, orange, green and gold.

This is a rare Imari plate from the late Edo period (1820-40). It is decorated in underglaze blue as well as overglaze colours and gold.

Apart from a round central reserve with a flower it shows two folded screens decorated with flying cranes and clouds as well as two reserves with floral decoration.

Marked "Dai Men sei ka nen sei" on the reverse (a spurious Chinese Chenghua mark). Diameter 21 cm (8.5"), perfect state.

This is a Kutani bowl, produced during the mid-Meiji period (1880-1900). It shows a phoenix and a dragon flying in clouds, painted in various overglaze colours (red, green, blue, aubergine and gold).

It is marked "Kutani" on the reverse in Japanese kanji script (overglaze red).

This is an underglaze blue ("sometsuke") Japanese plate from the mid-Meiji era (1880-1900), produced in Hirado.

It depicts five "karako" (Chinese children) playing in a garden and is marked "Hirado Mikawachi" in Japanese kanji characters on the reverse.

This is a Hirado plate shaped (and painted) like a fish, scales and all. Of course, there are hardly any natural species of fish coloured in this vivid blue.

The plate is about 100 years old, which dates it to the late Meiji period (probably between 1890 and 1910). It is marked "Dai Men manreki nen sei" in underglaze blue - a spurious Chinese Wanli reign mark.

Dimensions 25 x 17 cm, perfect state.

This is an Imari bowl with lid ("chawan" in Japanese) from the beginning of the late Edo period (1800-1820). It is decorated on the outside with four reserves on an unusual background of red dots. Two reserves show pine and bamboo each. The inside shows a flower bouquet.

It is marked "ken ryu nen sei" (kanji in seal script; overglaze red) - a spurious Chinese Qianlong reign mark.

This is a rare lidded Imari bowl ("chawan" in Japanese) from the late Edo period (19th century, probably around 1800-20). It is decorated in the Kakiemon palette with some rocks, vegetation and a bird.

Diameter 11 cm, height 7.5 cm; perfect state (of course a few signs of use).
