This is a Satsuma cup and saucer from the Meiji period (late 19th century).

The decoration shows Japanese kimono-clad women and girls in a garden with flowers and butterflies.

The underside of both cup and saucer is marked "Yoshi" in overglaze gold on black.

Diameter 6.5 cm for the cup and 13 cm for the saucer, perfect state.
