Huge Imari plate with brown background 1880-1900

This Imari charger dates from the mid-Meiji era (1880-1900). It is decorated with flowers, dragons and their flaming pearls, phoenixes, stylised waves and lots of scrolls and curlicues, mostly on brown background.

The reverse shows stylised flowers in underglaze blue and the mark "fu ki cho shun" (in Japanese kanji characters).

Diameter 47 cm, perfect state except for the onset of crazing on the reverse.
