| Exquisite Bust of Jesus by French Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist Artist Armand Point. Armand Point was born in Algeria, and lived in Paris in 1888. He was awarded a medal at the Salon des Artistes Francais. He was influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites. In 1896 founded 'Hauteclaire', which produced ornamental objects. He exhibited in the Salon de la Rose+Croix from 1892-1896, Spent 11 years in Italy during what is now called his Botticelli period and gained direction from Leonardo DaVinci and Botticellis' works. Armand Point felt that he was thereby leading a revival of modern art. Born 1868 died 1932 in Paris. Bust is with Base and has minor buffing on nose. Beautiful patina and condition Signed monogram AP and dated '05 or 00', size 14" X 11" approx plus base Auction records exceed $200,000 for his paintings. | |
