M.N.CHIVILEV (1837-61) RUSSIAN PAINTING AFTER VERONESE

RUSSIAN PAINTER MICHAEL NIKANDROVICH CHIVILEV (1837-1861), A VERY FINE PAINTING AFTER VERONESE'S ADORATION OF THE MAGI, 1858 FROM STATE HERMITAGE MUSEUM, ST.PETERSBURG. The original work was executed in 1570s by Paolo Veronese (1528-1588). Today the painting hangs in the State Hermitage Museum, St.Petersburg. The painting by M.N.Chivilev is oil on canvas, on the reverse of the painting is sign in Cyrillic "Chivilev from Veronese in Hermitage" and dated 1858 (see my photos). Size is 17” x 12”1/4' ( the same size of the original), with the frame 23”3/4’ x 19”1/4’.
