Museum grade very large Japanese Ginbari enamel vase. Ginbari is a technique using a foil design made with an embossing plate. The vase has a robin's egg blue enamel ground comprised of small flowers, with Wisteria branches bearing pastel green and purple flowers, small birds perched and flying through the tree branches. Large pair of Chinese wooden gate doors with hand-forged iron plates and hardware. The pair of doors are opened by iron fu dog heads with large ring pulls in their mouths. The top and bottom iron plates on the front of each door have foliate edges in lingzhi mushroom motifs, with iron studs and horizontal iron bands. The doors have wooden pegs to be inserted into a door frame.

A Japanese Butsudan, or Buddhist shrine for in-home use. The exterior of the shrine is lacquered in red with black lacquer and gold gilt pigments. The gilt hardware of the butsudan are highly ornate with motifs of chrysanthemums, lotuses, vines, and dharmachakra wheels. A Sino-Tibetan gilt bronze statue of Maitreya, regarded by this world as a future Buddha in succession after the current Sakyamuni Buddha. Tradition teaches that Maitreya is a Bodhisattva who will one day appear on earth to achieve enlightenment and teach the pure dharma. The Bodhisattva is seated on a double-lotus pedestal to represent purity untouched by Samsara, the copper base impressed with a four point vajra to represent the four poisons of the earthly realm...

Antique Tibetan gilt bronze ritual vessel. In two parts, the cup and base both cast with lotus petals to represent purity undefiled by Samsara. The inner rim of the cup with deep forest green patina and wear from ritualistic use. The lotus base stands on a round, recessed foot.

Antique Tibetan silver statue of the Tibetan Vajra Buddhist fierce deity Mahakala. He stands on top of two bodies atop a lotus pedestal, wielding two important symbols of Tibetan Buddhism: A dorje and a bell. He wears the skin of a tiger around his waist, a crown of five skulls to represent the Five Poisons- anger, desire, ignorance, jealousy, and pride- transformed into Five Wisdoms. A snake wraps itself around Mahakala's neck and arms...

Chinese snuff bottle made of 2 color overlay red on translucent peking glass. Of a flattened globe form, with a tapered neck with jadeite stopper. This bottle has hand-carved red peking glass figures of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals.

A large Chinese ceramic vase of a classic green tea dust glaze, with rich glaze "drips" along the inner rim and just above the foot, which is left bare along its edges and its recessed center glazed in tea dust. The vase has an angular form with concave neck and foot, with different sets of characters on its front and back in relief.

Chinese Zitan hardwood brush pot hand carved from solid heavy Zitan wood. Dramatic foliate edges and interior are nicely detailed. The zitan shows "gold threading" with the grain of the dark hardwood.

A large Chinese brush pot hand carved from solid Zitan hardwood. The brush pot has a cylindrical natural form with interesting root texturized edges. An unusual scholars brush pot holder. The zitan shows "gold threading" running with that of the dark grain.

Chinese brush pot made of huanghuali hardwood with the classic "ghost eye" grain seen throughout. Carved of a squared form with four very short feet.

Japanese zenibako (money safe box) made with Keyaki (zelkova) burl wood in original red lacquer finish. The zenibako is fitted with brass hardware including side handles in a mokko (melon) motif. The hinged lid has a large front lock plate with matching key, and a calligraphy inscription on the underside. The interior of the zenibako holds two open compartments.

Japanese two section tansu made with Kiri (paulownia) wood. The chest's four front drawers feature large, round Kiri wood mon (family crest) motif lock plates , while the Warabite style drawer pulls have small pierced plates below them in the style of a crane mon. The bottom section holds a small corner safe door with two small drawers inside.

Japanese two section clothing tansu, made with Kiri (paulownia) wood. Decorated with classic round iron locks and handles. The lower section holds a corner safe box.

A Japanese single section Sendai tansu, constructed of Keyaki (elm) front panels and Sugi (cedar) sides, with original light finish and black lacquered frame. The drawers of this chest have large, decorative, hand-forged iron lock plates with floral motifs and mokko (melon) handles. The side of the chest has a safe door with 3 small Keyaki burl front drawers inside.
