Beautiful Japanese choba from Sakata area, Japan. Made entirely of keyaki wood (elm) with burl wood. Heavy iron hardware, including elaborately cut lock plates with square shaped handles, the side has warabite shaped handles. The pulls for opening the sliding panels are inlaid with mother of pearl and edge with carved persimmon. Interior has one shelf. Beautiful joinery. Original lacquered finish. This is an A+ piece. Beautiful art deco Japanese Cha Tansu with sliding doors and drawers. The sliding doors have red and gold flowers. The middle section has a bamboo print on the back, the right side has asymmetrical shelve with a tray on the bottom shelf with a slatted rack. The interior has a red finish.
