| Antique Japanese cha tansu (tea chest) in 2 sections, made of chestnut wood with keyaki (elm) wood burl on front. Top section has large compartment with 4 sliding panels, a smaller similar compartment with 2 sliders and lovely natural wood detail, below this is a stepped open shelf, to the right are two display compartments one with glass sliding panels and one with glass door (with black lacquer frame) which also has a glass shelf and glass window in the right side of chest; to the left are two small drawers with brass handles. The bottom section of the cha tansu has a large compartment with 2 sliding panels on the left and a compartment with opening door on the right, below this is a series of 5 drawers of various sizes. The piece has a great overall Art Deco feeling. Taisho Period. Size: 59 1/2" high x 34 3/4" wide x 14" deep. | |||||||||||
