Antique Japanese beautifully worn wood fragment, lacquered with deep brown lacquer with gold lacquer on the sides, writing in gold lacquer is a 5 line verse entitled Spring in the Mountains. "The world might be harsh, but Spring is very kind". Lines 4+5 talk about the appearance of the worm wood on the back, how it is an original form from the past, branch with blooming flower remnants, melancholy thoughts, mother's kindness, cherry wood, wood from temple stockpile.
