| A unique bunko or document box made in the Shonai region of Yamagata Prefecture. The style is known as Takenuri Shikki where lacquer is used to imitate the form of bamboo. The lid contains an image of two small fishes swimming done in mother of pearl. Box comes with a tomobako signed by the artist named, Gyokuho. Gyokuho may have been part of the school of Abe Chikuo the founder of this style of lacquer art. Age: Late Showa Era (1960-1970) Size: Length: 13" Width: 9" Height: 4.25" | |||||||||||||||
