Magnificent antique fine-grained pottery of Gama Sennin holding a peach and a toad on his hands while a larger toad rests on his head. The Japanese legend of Gama Sennin or "Toad Immortal" is based upon Chinese Liu Hai a fable of the 10th-century regarding an alchemist who learned the secret of immortality from the Chan Chu or "Three-legged Money Toad". Age: Meiji Period (1867-1912 AD). Size: 17"h x 8.75"d
