| Antique Japanese choba tansu (merchant's chest). Made of sugi wood (Japanese cypress or cryptomeria). 6 drawers; one drawer has special fittings used for merchant supplies, bottom drawer has greater depth and size than others. Iron hardware on front of tansu, and side handles. Age: Meiji Period (1868-1912). Size: 27.5" high x 16.25" wide x 13" deep. | ||||||||
