A celadon bowl done in the style often seen during the Song Dynasty. The bowl contains an incised interior decorated with butterflies and children. Although the work is done using a porcelain clay, the bottom contains a brown slip. Originally Song Dynasty celadons used a reddish color clay and over the centuries, as ceramic techniques and clays changed, the brown color in the unglazed section became part of the overall appearance of what traditional celadons should appear.
