Japanese Poem by Otagaki Rengetsu
Japanese poem in the style known as waka, by Otagaki Rengetsu (1791-1875). The poem reads: (Japanese) Suenagaki, yoyoya henuranu, azusa yumi, yazoji wo chiyo no, moto hazu nite. (English) Though evergoing, Not able to continue on continuously, on to spring, the road to eighty, is like the hooks on the bow. The work is signed by Rengetsu and states that she composed the poem at age 85. This may have been one of the last poems Rengetsu composed. Age: 19th century. Size: Height 47" Width 19.75"
