|Rare Antique Japanese kotatsu table covering, made of sakiori, weaving technique recycling old fabric and paper. This sakiori is unusual with it's checkerboard pattern. It is bordered by a green, purple, white and black cotton border. A kotatsu is a frame table used in winter. It has a coal heater inside and covered by a futon. Sakiori is the recycling of paper and fabirc, old kimonos and other fabrics, into a weave; it can even make ropes. Dates from late 19th century to early 20th century, Meiji period (c1900). It measures 53" by 53".|
