Antique bronze bodhisattva of Avalokateshvara from India, 18th century. The bodhisattva of avalokateshvara embodies the compassion of all the buddhas. Avalokateshvara translates as the holder of the lotus, he is also commonly known as guanyin. The figure holds a small blooming lotus as he sits cross legged on a double lotus throne. It was obtained in the 1960s in Katmandu. It measures 5.75" tall3.25" wide 2" deep.
