Japanese 2 section cha tansu (tea chest), made with beautiful solid persimmon wood panels. The top section has four small sliders that open to one compartment on top, the middle portion of the chest is covered by sliding panels with glass that shows off the series of stepped shelves for display, also a compartment with curved sliding panels decorated with fabric, and a drawer. The bottom section has a compartment opened by sliding persimmon wood panels and 5 drawers with kiri (paulownia) wood interiors and persimmon wood facing. Overall a very beautiful piece. Taisho Period (c1920).
