Japanese isho tansu (clothing chest) made all of kiri (paulownia) wood. The hardware on the front of the chest is made of copper and includes pretty lock plates and warabite shaped drawer pulls. The side hardware is made of black lacquered iron and includes handles for transport. The tansu has 6 drawers; 3 full width drawers and 2 drawers on the bottom of different sizes. A really nice feature about this chest is that the insides of the drawers are made with thick kiri wood allowing them to slide easily and helping to keep it's contents air tight. Taisho Period c. 1920.
