A wonderful and unusual Japanese lacquer gourd bottle used to store black powder for Samurai matchlock weapons. Finely woven basket body and attached lid, with a copper lined interior neck. Many are seen using actual gourds for the container. This one is unusual as it is completely woven and lacquered by hand.

Meiji period (1868-1912)

Size: 7.5" L x 3.5" W
