Still Life with Roses and Fruit on a Mossy Bank Oil-on-canvas, signed and dated, "1884". Joseph Eugene Gilbault specialized in painting still lives, flowers and fruit. He returned to Lausanne after the War of 1870. In Lausanne he took part in the Exhibition of the Swiss Society of Fine Arts in 1876. In 1878, he left Lausanne for Italy. Listed in E. Benezit, Dictionnaire des Peintres, Sculpteurs, Dessinateurs et Graveurs.
