Mabel E. Davis (American, 1860-1950)
Oil-on-canvas, signed.

Mabel Davis was a landscape, still life and portrait painter. She studied in Boston at the Massachusetts Normal Art School; with Charles H. Woodbury in Ogunquit; and with Charles W. Hawthorne in Provincetown. Davis exhibited at the following:
New Bedford Art Club Loan Exhibition, 1908; New Bedford Art Club, 1916; New Bedford Free Public Library; Swain Free School Design, Crapo Gallery; New Bedford Society of Independent Artist Annual Exhibition, 1932. She also worked as and instructor at the Swain Free School of Design in New Bedford, Massachusetts for twenty-five years.
She is listed in Falk, Who Was Who in American Art.
Also listed in Blasdale's, Artists of New Bedford, 75-6; and Charles Woodbury and His Students.
