Although Court traveled the globe painting in the Antarctic, Canadian Rockies, Norway and Ireland, he remains best known for winter landscapes of New England and shore scenes of Monhegan Island, Maine. He spent summers on Monhegan Island beginning in 1925 and eventually built a studio there in 1958 Court studied at the Massachusetts College of Art and with Aldro Hibbard in Rockport and Leith-Ross in Philadelphia. He was a member of the National Academy of Design, the American Artists Professional League, the Guild of Boston Artists, the North Shore Artists’ Association and the Copley Society, among others. Court exhibited extensively including the Worcester Art Museum, Amherst College and the National Academy of Design. He was a made a member of the Legion of Honor in France (1949).
