William Arnold Eyden Jr. (American, 1893-1982) Trees in Bloom Watercolor and gouache on paper, signed lower left.
Painting size: 17” x 23” Born in Indiana in 1893, Eyden grew up under the tutelage of his German immigrant father,who was also an artist in his own right. As young man Eyden moved to New York City where he studied with such influential artists as Charles Hawthorne and T.C. Steele. Eventually, he moved to Asheville, North Carolina where he continued to paint throughout the 1930s. However, he most loved to paint the landscape of his native Indiana. Eyden was a member of the Bundy Club, Hoosier Salon, Richmond Art Association and Indiana Art Club among others. He exhibited widely and often, and his work was frequently the recipent of awards.
