Original hand-colored lithographs of French military uniforms for the period 1791-1814 by Carl Vernet, published in Paris 1822. These early lithographs are very colorful each looking like an original drawing; many of the figures are on horseback, and the horses themselves are beautifully drawn. Vernet was a horse lover as well as a military artist; it was he who introduced the "English sport" of horse racing to France. Conservation framed in black and gold with french matting. Uniquely American cast iron bench and side chair ca 1890. The late Victorian "renaissance scroll" bench is ornate in every detail and features a woman's head medallion as the focus of its back rest. The side chair is stamped "Betsy Ross Chair", an identity that is not found on the larger bench, though the designs - excepting variations in size - are identical.
