Striking antique 19th or early 20th century Japanese lacquered theatrical mask. This mask depicts a male character, either human or mythological, with the look of a 'Nioi' guardian protector, or a Samauri warrior. This mask is a bit hard for us to date, but judjing from the patina, wear, and condition it is late Meiji Period or Taisho Period.

A fine and rare example of Japanese cloisonne executed on a porcelain body. This technique is known as 'Totai shippo' and is very difficult to make. This piece is in the form of a ginger jar and dates to the second half of the 19th century, circa 1880, Meiji Period.
