| An essay on the history of glass in the Holy Lands. A summary of its beginnings in Mesopotamia and Egypt, its proliferation through trade in the Ancient Meditarranean world, and its use in the Holy Lands. Notable is the discovery of the oldest glass known blown glass fragments in the world discovered in the Jewish Quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem. Earlier techniques of obsidian glazes, beads and inaly work, and mould cast vessels are discussed. The study concludes with the end of the Roman period. | |||||||||
