Wow! Not only is this a wonderful huge Italian linen towel or runner, but it has a 3" deep row of prancing dogs crocheted lace at each end! Embroidered in the padded French style with tendrils of vines and bullion roses, the perfectly hand monogrammed E A measures 11" across. This charming tapestry of a pair of whippets or greyhound dogs was most likely a cover for a cushion in a Victorian parlor. It would be stunning made into a pillow or even framed! In excellent condition but for the missing turkey red fringe, slight areas of wear which don't show unless you are really looking for them (see last photo) It feels luxurious and silky to touch.
