An unusual sign cut from a plank of worm eaten wood inlayed with two ceramic characters reading Whispering Pines. The fresh green glaze intimates the evergreen branches of the pine against the dark shadows of bark and forest. From right to left, it reads Sho-Sei. It would be an excellent addition to a Northern Tea Room

Dark Seto Mizusashi with black lacquered lid and enclosed in an old kiri-wood box. The pale clay covered in thick, black molasses-like glaze, a burn of red around the rim. It is 6-1/2 inches (17 cm) tallA6 inches (15.5 cm) diameter and in excellent condition. Part of an extensive collection of tea-ware assembled from the Meiji to the early Showa era we have recently acquired, spanning several centuries of production.

A superlative Korai style Irabo chawan covered with thick green freckles over the pale yellow-brown glaze. It is over 6 inches (16 cm) diameter, more than 2 inches (5.5 cm) tall and is in excellent condition, enclosed in a wooden box. Part of an extensive collection of tea-ware assembled from the Meiji to the early Showa era we have recently acquired, spanning several centuries of production.

A Yobitsugi chawan made up of three shards from Edo period Karatsu tea bowls. The tradition of making Yobitsugi chawan dates back to the late Edo period. Traditionally imperfect pieces were smashed when removed from the kiln, and at one point it became fashionable to reassemble the recovered pieces into a new bowl.
