A Raku Yaki desert dish dating from the first part of the 20th century decorated with a large red sun on crackled white, enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Sweets dishes like these are an important category of Zen Tea Ceremony accoutrements. The crackled glaze is filled with color acquired over time and use. The sculpted clay body is 9-1/2 inches (24 cm) square and in perfect condition.

A fine black lacquered Chashitsu Robuchi hearth frame decorated with pine boughs in red and gold maki-e. The frame is 16-13/16 inches square (42.7 cm) by 2-1/2 inches (6.7 cm) tall. There are two chips in the non-visible back, but the front is fine. Please see photos.

A small lumpy frog (ibo-gaeru) rides on the back of its parent, a fine wood carving signed Hiromitsu saku. It is carved from a hard dark wood, only the sharp eyes of the animals painted black, the rest raw. It is nearly 1 foot (30 cm) long, roughly 9 inches (23 cm) tall and in fine condition, with two age cracks on either side of the larger creatures face. A soft turquoise vase with wireless and wired design of a single tall flowering tree with silver rims and bearing the Ando Shippo mark on the base. The vase is 12 inches (31 cm) tall, 7 inches (18 cm) diameter and in excellent condition. The Ando Cloisonné studio has been considered one of the top studios in Japan since the Meiji period. On the rim of the bas is the jun-gin stamp (solid silver). This piece likely dates from the early to mid Showa, mid 20th century.

A pair of carp swim through swirling eddies of green, a fine bronze okimono stamped on the base and enclosed in a custom made wooden box. One is a dark olive color, the other bright copper, both with inlayed gold eyes. Gentle detail seems to suit well the relaxed form. The object is 13 inches (32.5 cm) long and in excellent condition

A 6 sided Art Deco vase of mottled murashido green and red patina, alternating sides engraved with a thin silver line. The vase is enclosed in a kiri-wood box; the inscription states it was given as a wedding gift in 1937. Excellent design espousing the period, it is 10-1/2 inches (27 cm) tall roughly 7 inches (18 cm) diameter and in excellent condition.
