An antique Japanese Bronze Basket with removable handle of wrapped bronze enclosed in the original wooden box. Each strip of bronze is slightly curved toward the outside, as if taken from a large tube, which protects anything placed within from the edges. A lot of work for so simple an item typical of the high quality expected of Japanese art. It is 9 inches (23 cm) across the undulating sides and in fine condition.

An exquisite vase of dark purple-tinged shakudo by preeminent Japanese metalworker Nakagawa Joeki enclosed in the original signed wooden box. They say a true artist can be measured in the simplest of forms, and this is perfectly created with a cut twig on one side, the nodules from the base of the bamboo visible below where it curved out from the forest floor.
