Kawai Einosuke Pottery Vase
A small vase decorated with Tessen vines by Kawai Einosuke enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 29.5 cm (11.5 inches) tall and in excellent condition. Einosuke (1893-1962) was born the fourth son into the Kyoto pottery family of Kawai Zuiho, his older brother was Kawai Innosuke. He entered the Kyoto Municipal Ceramics Research Facility in 1911. Along with Kusube Yaichi, Einosuke was one of the founding members of the Sekidosha art group in 1919. In 1925, 1934 and 1940 works by him were collected by the Imperial family, and in 1942 his submission to the Bunten was purchased by the Japanese Government.
