Modern Japanese Bronze Bell Shaped Vase Yamaguchi Kenzo
A bell shaped hand formed (not cast) bronze vase by Yamaguchi Kenzo enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Large lug handles are riveted on top, with brass covers on the edge of the rectangular rim and two circular holes in the side, the shape reminiscent of very early Japanese Bronze age bells. All sides are etched with geometric designs of ancient raw power, creating a vibrant sense of static energy waiting release with a strike. The piece is 15-1/2 inches (39 cm) tall, 10 by 7-1/2 inches (19 x 25 cm) at the base. Yamaguchi Kenzo was born in Shizuoka in 1953. He has been exhibited and displayed throughout Japan since 1977.
